Music to Image

From going to see Joe Gilmore's work and listening to what he had to say about the industry he mentioned something that I thought that would be quite useful for this brief creating imagery using music files.

I have never done this before so its new to me so I had a go at it anyway but converting a music file to raw and then putting it into Photoshop here are a couple of results.
To get this result I played about with the filters and colour modes to get the right look.

Exisiting Research

Here some photos that were taken of James Page himself, and also a clipping from his myspace site, I looked at these to not only listen to his music off his myspace but to look at his style and the atmosphere he plays in and the sort of music he produces.

James Page CD cover and CD design

This is a live brief for a friend of mine who wants me to create his CD sleeve front and back. I will be working on a one to one basis with him and will be taking this brief right through to the printers to be mass-produced.

The audience for this brief is obviously the general public, people who are interested in his music and also to record companies.

The theme of the cover is to be old school retro creating something eye catching and stood out from the rest.
The name of the album is to be ‘The Pull Pull’ which means over his years of singing his finally bringing it all together. I will be getting inspiration from his music that I will be listening to on www.myspace.com/jamespagemusic.

The information that I received from him is quite vague but is something that I can work from by keeping in contact with him and showing him what ideas I have and what I have been looking at for inspiration.

I am wanting to deliver this as a type and image design using a minimal colour palette to create a bright and bold image.

I will be working on this brief throughout the whole of the module.
